Harry Anderson (1998) or (2001)

This is a Harry Anderson palming coin. I have several dated 1998 and 2001. These are 38mm in diameter and in very good condition, as seen in the obverse and reverse images.

Phillip Astley (unlisted).

This is a Phillip Astley token from circa 1795. It appears to be a hammered Cartwheel Penny and is counterstamped ASTLEY on the obverse and EXHIBITION of the reverse.

MT019 - Astley.

This is a Phillip Astley magic token from 1795, MT019 in Kuethe's reference on magician's tokens. It is copper, 29mm in diameter and in good condition, as seen in the obverse and reverse images. The obverse reads LYCEUM STRAND / LONDON with THE FIRST EQUESTRIAN PERFORMANCE IN EUROPE surrounding. The reverse reads EVERY EVENING with SINGING DANCING TUMBLING SLACKWIRE ETC. surrounding.

This is Basch magic token from 1870, MT030 in Kuethe's reference on magician's tokens. It is copper, 21.5mm in diameter and in very good condition, as seen in the obverse and reverse images. The obverse shows a devil's head with wings and reads MAGIE/ DENKT ANL BASCH. The reverse reads VON / F. J. BASCH / PROFESSOR / D. MAGIE with JEDEN ABEND VORSTELLUNG D. PHYSIK MAGIE U. OPTIK surrounding.

Ernesto Bellini (unlisted)

This is token for Ernesto Bellini that is not listed in Kuethe's reference on magician's tokens. It is copper, 18mm in diameter and in very good condition, as seen in the obverse and reverse images. The obverse shows Bellini facing left. The reverse reads ERNESTO / BELLINI.

Ross Bertram - Coinmaster.

This is a Ross Bertram magic token dated 1981. I believe it is nickel-plated copper, it is 31mm in diameter and in very good condition (much better than the scans). The obverse shows a sihlouette facing left with ROSS BERTRAM above and COINMASTER below with coin outlines surrounding on the left and right. The reverse shows magical items including cups and balls, cards, a bird and a snake with RB near the bottom.

Ross Bertram (1912-1992) was a respected professional Canadian magician for more than 40 years.

MT035 - J. Bland

The obverse reads MAGICAL REPOSITORIES surrounding a bust of a devil. There is a small dig below the devil's bust. The reverse reads J. This is magic token MT166 in Kuethe's reference on magician's tokens. It is German-Silver, 31mm in diameter and in good condition, as seen in the obverse image. The reverse of the token matches the obverse. Some tarnish on this one.

MT063 - C. Milton Chase.

This is magic token MT063, circa 1890, in Kuethe's reference on magician's tokens. It is German-Silver, 30.5mm in diameter and in very good condition, as seen in the obverse and reverse images. The obverse reads C. MILTON CHASE / MECHANICIAN / BOSTON surrounding an eagle. The reverse reads PRO ARTE MAGICA / NE CEDE MALIS surrounding a figure of a magician with a side table on the left.

MT069 - Comte.

MT072 - F. W. Conradi-Horster.

This is magic token MT072, 1910, in Kuethe's reference on magician's tokens. It is white-metal, 34mm in diameter and in fair condition, as seen in the obverse and reverse images. The obverse shows a bust of Kaiser Wilhelm II and reads WILHELM II. DEUTSCHER KAISER KONIG VON PREUSSEN. The reverse shows a double-headed eagle with shield and reads ZAUBERAPPARATE FABRIK / C. B. N. surrounding. This one has a couple of small holes near the top that might have been used to attach to a chain.

MT080(unlisted-DEN HAAG) - Cortini.

MT099 - Davenport's Magic Shop.

This is magic token MT099 in Kuethe's reference on magician's tokens. It is nickel-plated copper, 31mm in diameter and in very good condition, as seen in the obverse and reverse images. Obverse has Downs' bust facing right and reads T. NELSON DOWNS / PALMING COIN / 1904. Reverse shows a hand with a line of coins and reads THE T. NELSON DOWNS / PALMING COIN. The word DEMON appears at the base of the wrist.

Charles De Vere (Unlisted).

This is similar magic token MT106 in Kuethe's reference on magician's tokens. It is aluminum, 36.5mm in diameter and in very good condition, as seen in the obverse and reverse images. Obverse has DE VERE / FABRICANT / PARIS within a wreath with PHYSIQUE (star) AMUSANTE surrounding. Reverse shows a bust (ie. face) of a woman facing left with REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE surrounding. Unlike MT106, it does not have DUSEAUX, PARIS on the reverse.

No words appear at the base of the wrist. Some wear and tarnish on this one.

Frank Everhart.

This is a dollar trade token for the Ivanhoe in Chicago where Frank Everhart performed for many years. He was probably best known for his version of Sam the Bellhop. It is copper-plated steel (I believe), approximately 39mm in diameter and in very good condition, as seen in the obverse and reverse images.

MT147 - Green River Whiskey.

Green River Company placed an ad in The Linking Ring, offering examples of their token to any magician who wrote in for them, Although the ad did not state the quantity to be given, they gave 50 pcs of their token at a time. The company encouraged magicians to use its token in their tricks, thus gaining publicity for the company at a low cost!

MT158 - Herrmann the Great.

This is Herrmann the Great (Alexander Herrmann) token, MT158 in Kuethe's reference on magician's tokens. It is an aluminum-encased indian-head cent, 38mm in diameter and in fair condition, as seen in the obverse and reverse images. The obverse reads HERRMANN THE GREAT / DIRECTION / THURNAER & GORMAN with a small bust of Herrmann along the edge. The reverse reads GOOD LUCK / KEEP ME / AND PROSPOER with luck symbols also surrounding. This token has been holed for a chain. The indian-head cent is dated 1895 and in good condition.

MT170 - L.L. Ireland.

This is magic token MT170 in Kuethe's reference on magician's tokens. It is German-Silver, 38.2mm in diameter and in good condition, as seen in the obverse image. Token reads ONE NECROMANTIC COIN / L.L.I. surrounding a magician pulling a rabbit out of a hat. Some tarnish on this one.

This one's a bit more ellusive because it's hard to find. It's a cross-collected piece, sought-after by civil war token collectors ( CWT OH170B1a ).

This is magic token of William Kuethe, not listed in his reference on magician's tokens (ironic, isn't it). 1000 were made. It is copper, 20.75mm in diameter and in very good condition, as seen in the obverse and reverse images. The obverse has an indian head facing left, surrounded by stars with 1978 at the base. The reverse reads MAGIC COLLECTOR / star / F. WM. KUETHE, JR. / GELN BURNIE, MD. / EDITOR / THE MAGIC CAULDRON.

Kuethe (1932- ) is an amateur magician and magic collector. He authored the standard reference on magic tokens, was the publisher-editor of The Journal of Necromantic Numismatics (1966-77, the only journal devoted exclusively to magic tokens. He is also publisher-editor of Magical Bloodhound (1962-76), The Magic Cauldron (1964-76), and The Magic Cauldron: New Series (1977-present). He also wrote several monographs.

This token is for Max Peltini and is not listed in Kuethe's reference on magician's tokens. It is aluminum, 26mm in diameter with smooth edge and in good condition, as seen in the obverse and reverse images. The obverse shows a bust of Peltini looking right. The reverse reads ZUM ANDENKEN / AN DIE / MAX PELTINI/ REVUE / LIEBE MICH.

MT274 - Philadelphia Magic Shop.

75th Magic Circle Anniversary in Germany.

This is a set of three tokens commemorating the 75th Anniversary the the Magischer Zirkel von Deutschland. The tokens are gold, silver and copper colored and have the same obverse and reverses. This is an unknown token that I'm interested in learning more about. It appears to be bronze and is 32mm in diameter. The obverse shows a sphynx and the reverse has Egyptian symbols.

Unknown #2.

This is an unknown token that I'm interested in learning more about. It appears to be nickle-plated brass and is 20mm in diameter. The obverse reads FU LU SHO and shows a dragon head with H at the base. The reverse also reads FU LU SHO with T at the base with a dragon tail in the field. I picked this one up on the chance that FU LU SHO was "Fool You Show", but really have no evidence for that.
