Chair to Suitcase. Chu’s Magic, Hong Kong, ca. 1970.
A clever and highly visual transformation in which a wooden chair is shown freely and then, with a few quick movements, collapses into the form of a small suitcase. Constructed in dark painted wood with contrasting trim and a decorative pierced backrest. An unusual piece of magic apparatus that combines utility, craftsmanship, and surprise in a single prop. Light wear from age and use; very good condition overall. Approximately 15 × 8 × 3” closed. Uncommon.
