Crystal Goblet (Ink to Goldfish). Abbott’s Magic Novelty Co., ca. 1940s.
A striking transformation: black ink poured into a clear glass goblet visibly turns to water—now shimmering with live goldfish. Complete with hand-blown glass goblet imported from France, internal gimmick, and painted wooden base. This is the scarcer early version first featured in 1947, predating the later plastic models.
From the incredible collection of Bill King, inventory number 349. Base measures 8 x 5½”. Accompanied by original ink tablets and gimmicked “ink” card with Mr. King’s signature magic shop inventory stickers. An uncommon piece of Abbott’s classic production magic.
Many thanks to Gene Vosh for his generous help in documenting this piece’s history.
