Taylor Made Magic
Merv Taylor (1904–1974) was one of the most influential American magic manufacturers of the mid-20th century. Known for precision engineering, elegant design, and innovative mechanics, Taylor produced a wide range of stage and parlor apparatus during the 1940s and 1950s, from dove cages and production boxes to coin devices and ingenious utility props.
In the early 1960s, Taylor sold his line to Owen Magic Supreme, ensuring his creations would continue to be crafted to the same high standards. This partnership preserved Taylor’s legacy and helped establish Owen Magic as one of the most respected builders of professional magic worldwide.
Today, original Merv Taylor pieces remain highly sought-after for their durability, ingenuity, and timeless aesthetic—true artifacts of the golden age of American magic apparatus.
