Hardeen ALS

$425.00

Hardeen ALS to the Houdini Club of Philadelphia. January 6, 1942.

Autograph letter signed on Hardeen’s engraved letterhead, prominently noting his billing as “successor to his famous brother Houdini.” Writing from the Forrest Theatre in Philadelphia, Hardeen expresses his regrets to Mr. W. Crowel for being unable to attend the club’s annual banquet, citing performance obligations: “I must be in the theatre at 7:45 P.M. and the show does not break before 11:30 P.M.” Single 4to sheet, handsomely framed to an excellent display standard. Signed “Hardeen” in ink at lower right. From the Kevin Connolly Collection. A strong late-career example, connecting Hardeen directly to an active American magic society and reflecting his continued theatrical schedule in the final years of his life.
