From the Collection

Mel Babcock

Mel Babcock (b. 1931) is an American builder of magic apparatus, known for finely crafted, small-batch work produced over more than six decades. Originally creating props for his own performances, he developed a reputation for precise woodworking, practical design, and understated aesthetics.

Working from his Washington State workshop under the name The Magic House of Babcock, Babcock produces apparatus in limited quantities, often in varied woods and finishes. His output remains well regarded among magicians and collectors, with many pieces now considered modern classics. Found an error? Let us know.
