Tampa’s Vanishing Half Dollar. Raymond Sugden (“Tampa the Magician”), ca. 1920s–30s.
A compact pocket trick marketed by Tampa the Magician, the stage name of Raymond Sugden (1887–1939). The effect, as advertised on the envelope, causes a half dollar dropped into a glass of water to audibly strike the bottom before mysteriously vanishing.
An uncommon surviving example of a magician-marketed effect from the early twentieth century and a scarce piece associated with one of magic’s best-known professional performers and manufacturers.
Envelope approximately 5 × 3”. Light wear consistent with age and handling. Very good condition overall. Complete with original instructions and gimmick. Scarce.
