American made, ca. 1930-1940s
A large galvanized metal milk can, purpose-built for the classic escape effect. This heavy, water-filled vessel locks securely, yet allows the performer to free themselves under seemingly impossible conditions. This example was owned and used by the American magician Houdeen (Svenne Herman DeHolt, 1890–1968), who presented the act throughout his five-decade career. The can stands 38” high with a 24” diameter, and bears a playing-card pip motif around its upper collar. Light rusting and tarnish consistent with age.
Note: Requires third-party shipping or local pickup.
