Private Pat. F.G. Thayer, Los Angeles, ca. 1942.
A doughboy-themed version of the Bonus Genius vanishing doll. The effect originally employed two wooden soldier figures and a khaki tent, allowing the doll to vanish beneath the tent during performance. Offered here are the original painted wooden figure and khaki fabric tent marked “USA.” The second gimmicked figure is not present.
The wooden figure stands approximately 7¼” tall. The tent retains its original secret pocket and remains in exceptionally well-preserved condition.
Light wear consistent with age and use. The figure shows minor finish wear. The tent remains remarkably clean, with strong color and stitching. Very good condition overall.
An uncommon surviving example of a lesser-seen Thayer novelty effect.
