Large-format lobby card depicting a series of black-and-white cartoon illustrations based on scenes from Cardini’s celebrated act. Embossed with Cardini’s stamp and bearing Swan Cardini’s inked notation, “Boston / Billy Rose’s Casino de Paree Review,” linking the piece to one of the lavish theatrical revues produced by legendary showman Billy Rose during the 1930s.
The image offers a glimpse into the promotion of Cardini at the height of his career, when he was widely regarded as one of the world’s premier magical entertainers.
From the collection of noted magician and collector Bill Kress. Previously offered as Lot 60 in Cardini: The Suave Deceiver, the 2013 Cardini Auction conducted by Potter & Potter Auctions.
Sight size 14 x 11”. Presented in a larger gilt frame and ready for display. The photograph exhibits wear and staining to the corners, largely concealed by the frame. Not examined out of frame. Good condition.
