Cash Card & Cash on the Corner. Shigeo Takagi & Phil Goldstein, ca. 1998
Two inventive money-printing routines from the brilliant minds of Shigeo Takagi and Phil Goldstein (Max Maven). The effect utilizes a set of sleek black plastic folders with transparent fronts—four for Cash on the Corner, and an additional folder when performing Cash Card.
A sheet of blank white paper is inserted into one folder, and a real dollar bill into another—both plainly visible. The folder containing the paper is turned face-down, only to be revealed moments later “printed” as a genuine bill. The sequence is repeated with a second sheet of paper, producing a second bill.
For the finale, a third blank sheet is shown to have a torn corner. Undeterred, the performer proceeds—and the resulting printed bill appears with its own matching torn corner, completing the routine with a clever, unexpected twist.
