Johnny Thompson’s Personal Effects. American, 20th century.
Collection of personal mementos from the estate of magician Johnny Thompson (1934–2019), including a black leather coin purse with metal clasp, a souvenir keychain from the Island Princess, a wrapped sugar cube from the Dunes Hotel in Las Vegas, and a wooden token marked “Compliments of the Magic Castle.” Of particular interest is the sugar cube, given Thompson’s association with several sugar cube effects, including Sugar Cube Assembly, Malini’s Chink-A-Chink, and the Sugar Cube Trick featured in Johnny Thompson’s Magic Made Easy. Previously offered by Potter & Potter Auctions. Includes a certificate of provenance documenting its association with the Johnny Thompson collection.
