A mechanical routine marketed by Max Holden as a “Holden Exclusive,” using two collapsible cube shells, six solid wooden cubes, two folding display screens decorated with automobiles, and a miniature jug to illustrate a story of two fishermen, Mike and Ike. As the narrative unfolds, the cubes are transferred between the two display boxes until the final revelation, in which one fisherman is shown to have caught all of the fish while the other is left with only the jug.
Constructed of painted wood with folding painted display screens and accompanied by an original typed two-page instruction manuscript bearing Val Evans’ name at the top. Also included is the original Max Holden catalog advertisement for the effect, priced at $8.00.
Complete with six solid cubes, two shell cubes, folding display screens, jug, original typed instructions, and original catalog advertisement. Minor paint wear and expected handling marks throughout. Instructions show toning, creasing, and edge wear from age and use. Overall a very good example of a scarce Holden exclusive from the mid-twentieth century.
