Spirit Bolts with Original Board. Attributed to Roterberg, ca. 1920s.
A pair of spirit bolts mounted to their original period board. Used in spirit cabinet and séance-style demonstrations, the performer was secured to the board by handcuffs or chains attached to the bolts while seated. Despite these visible restraints, bells could be rung, objects moved, and other manifestations apparently produced while the performer remained confined and screened from view.
Constructed of heavy nickel-plated metal with large attached rings and offered with the original wooden board. Each bolt measures approximately 6” in length and is fitted with a ring measuring approximately 2.75” in diameter. Board measures 29 × 10”.
Light wear consistent with age and use. Very good condition overall.
