Spirit Light

$325.00

Spirit Light by Syl Reilly

A brilliant example of early magical ingenuity, the Magic Spirit Light was invented by Syl Reilly in the early 1940s—decades before modern electronics made such illusions easy to replicate.

At first glance, it’s just a small wooden board with a vintage push-button, a bulb, and simple wiring. But in the magician’s hands, it becomes a mystery: the light flashes on command, even when no fingers touching the button. The secret is cleverly built in, allowing the performer to control the effect while the board rests casually on their palm.

Fully self-contained and examinable, this prop can be handed to a spectator immediately after performance. They’ll press the button… and nothing more. The method remains completely concealed, even under close scrutiny.

While modern tech could now recreate this with ease, Reilly’s invention predates the transistor. That makes this not only a charming piece of magical history, but also a tribute to the creativity and resourcefulness of magicians in a pre-digital era.
